Sobriquet
Appearance
Fishy Usually wears jeans and a brown toned tie-dyed shirt. His long black hair is clean, bound back in raw hide ties. He owns a broad brimmed hat he wears most of the time, eagle feathers and bear claws hand from the hat brim.
His Nosferatu heritage leaves his skin blanched. This are the result of the line of his kind. His fangs are curved and his mouth seems more like the maw of a wild cat than that of a man, his fangs don't retract.
Behavior
Fishy is a man of few words most of the time. He is generally kind, but more than willing to be sarcastic with anyone who deserves it. He looks to the left and right of anyone he is talking to, observing the spirits that flicker and move in the area. Fishy has a very high humanity, which makes him less inclined to harm others, and more concerned with human life.
History
Fishy Graywater was born into the Ohlone tribe. When he survived to his naming, he was known as "Dances-in-clearwater", Tae-a'chur Ba. He was raised by his parents into the hunting and gathering ways of their people. At an early age the tribal shaman pulled him aside and began to teach him the ways of their peoples religion and magic. Tae-a'chur Ba was a quick learner. When the Iron Cross people came to the West coast, the tribe welcomed them, but watched with suspicion. The Iron Cross people were strange, and seemed to resent the beliefs of the Ohlone. Before long, his mentor the shaman told Tae-a'chur Ba that there was a dangerous, hungry spirit with the Iron Cross people. Hungrier than the shark people in the water, more silent than the Big Hair peoples of the northern forests.
Twice Tae-a'chur Ba saw the spirit moving at night. Once he helped the shaman make a ward to protect his people from the spirit. The spirit just seemed hungry, not evil. It wasn't unusual for Tae-achur Ba to see the spirit, and several times he and the Shaman spoke to it using sign language.
In the next few years Tae-a'chur Ba would be acknowledged as a man of his tribe. He took a wife, and they had children. Life wasn't easy because the iron cross people made things difficult, and the iron cross holy men kept trying to get them to go to their church. The band Tae-a'chur Ba belonged to tried to stay away from the iron cross people, though it became harder and harder.
One evening after the sun went down several Iron Cross soldiers had a member of the People and were torturing him, but he didn't speak the Iron Cross language, so he couldn't understand them. The Shaman and Tae-a'chur Ba went to stop them. There weren't many Iron Cross warriors, so the Shaman didn't feel like they needed much help.
The Iron Cross soldiers wore armor and had weapons, but Coyote was speaking with the Shaman, and he knew how to scare the soldiers away. Coyote told them that using the poison in the gahura, creatures who live in the big water, would make the soldiers stop. Such poison would not kill them. The Shaman caught several such creatures floating in the water, and milked them of their poison. The Shaman coated small darts with the poison and the two men shot them at the Iron Cross Soldiers.
Coyote's plan worked, but one of the Iron Cross soldiers saw Tae-a'chur Ba and shot him. The Shaman did all he could for Tae-a'chur Ba, but the blood was going into the sand too fast. The hungry spirit appeared to them. He looked like the holy men of the Iron Cross people. He spoke to the Shaman in sign language, told him he would keep Tae-a'chur Ba from dying forever. The shaman nodded. The holy man knelt down and bit Tae-a'chur Ba. The Shaman was very afraid and sang a song of prayer. The holy man then cut his wrist and gave blood back to Tae-a'chur Ba. Then he became Waatsu Mobart-ahlonk, a hungry spirit also. The iron cross priest told the shaman he would care for Tae -achur Ba.
As the months passed Tae-a'chur Ba learned Spanish, English, and Latin. The Father called him Peter. The kids from the church told him he smelled fishy. As he could no longer be known as "Dances-in-clear-water", he preferred to be called Fishy Graywater. While he learned the lessons of the iron cross people, Fishy also kept going back to learn from the Shaman, and help his people. Fishy Graywaters band was killed in a massacre. The vampire grieved and was a menace to white people for a long time.
By the 1920's Fishy Gray water had found a place of balance, and became a helper among the poor of San Francisco. He has had run ins with the police and anyone else trying to abuse the poor of the city. The Nosferatu has worked hard to bring back his humanity, though he still grieves for his family and people.
Recent Events
Fishy Graywater has influence with those working with the homeless, and the adult protective services. He advocates for sanitation, food programs, and shelter for those who need it. He has arranged to help some judges and police officers at times of need. While they might not know he is a vampire, they know about the Native Shaman who works the city helping the downtrodden.
With the Great Leap Outward, he has once again become a thorn in the side of the invaders. Fishy Graywater lives in the whole city. No ahta'cha taares (white people) told him where he could live, he isn't going to let any Waatsu Mobart-ahlonk from behind the sun tell him that.
Twice he had skimishes with the Kuei-jin, twice he left them hurt and embarrassed. The Mandarin for the city put a blood hunt on his head, and the Kuei-jin intend to kill him. Unfortunately for them, he has visions of the future and most of the time sees the Kuei-jin coming.
