The Colony

The San Francisco Colony of Nosferatu is just one hundred and fifty-seven years old and consists of the Dowager, her three surviving childer and a few grand-childer. The Colony is attended by the ghouled survivors of the 1906 quake who were resident in the Hotel Saint Damien when it slid into the massive sinkhole that would become its tomb. There are twenty-three quake survivors who have been ghouled, they are now a century old and are mostly out of touch with the modern world, as such they are a time-capsule community still trapped in 1906.

Hotel Saint Damien

The Hotel Saint Damien had only stood in Lower Nob Hill for a year when the big quake of 1906 struck. The building had been designed with the best materials and structural reinforcement available at that time to resist seismic activity. The architect had been a genius and the hotel an engineering opus. So rather than crumple or collapse as so many buildings had at that time, the Hotel Saint Damien slide in-Toto into the earth and was thereafter forgotten. For the last hundred years the hotel has served as the Nosferatu rookery and the heart of the Leper Colony.
