Preface
The former Tremere regent of Sofia, was supposedly killed by the Ventrue-Antribu infernalist Dylan Bruce in the autumn of 2003. In retrospect, it is quite clear that he faked both his death and the death of his apprentice Magenta DiMagro by substituting Vicissitude created clones for execution at the hands of Mr.Bruce and his ally Katherine Bishop. This ruse allowed him to move his true chantry out of the line of fire while he plotted with a high ranking member of the court, presumably the then Ventrue Primogen Miklos Grubo.
The plot was to weaken the then Nosferatu Prince Emil na Pes by creating strife between prince and primogen through assassinating Emil's youngest childe, the then Keeper of Elysium Kutchka in the guise of Boris Melor the Brujah Primogen and the city's resident Ravnos Madame Mina. The exposure of the original Kremikovtsi chantry led to the discovery of a hundred or so of the most common thaumaturgical treatises and resource works; presumably, this was a sacrifice meant to validate the chantry as authentic to both the Sabbat infernalists and American Coterie. While the sacrifice of these texts was significant and believable to the majority of Sofia, the American Coterie wasn't fooled; unfortunately, these texts while valuable in their own right, were just copies of works already present in the communal library and added nothing new to enhance it. In any case, the Tremere sent an emissary to investigate the events surrounding the death of Regent Paisi and to collect their property, the resource library. Among the library was found a basic inventory, after inspecting the chantry and library, the Tremere emissary insinuated that some of the books were missing, but Prince Emil dismissed the possibility of theft and the Tremere declined to make a formal accusation.
In 2005, Zlatko carried out the assassination of Kutchka and set the stage for the warlock coup that was to follow, unfortunately for him, the American Coterie again became involved and used their considerable occult expertise and investigative skill to unravel his plot; with Zlatko's conspiracy exposed, the American Coterie with the aid of the then Sheriff Grigor Boriskovic and the then Scourge Caden Drud launched an secret assault on the Tremere's true chantry and succeeded in killing Regent Paisi with the tacit approval of Prince Emil. The assault on the real Temere chantry led to the entorporment of both Gregor and Caden; body relics for both were taken and their generation and descent verified to be authentic. The real chantry had been located only three blocks away from the false chantry in Kremikovtsi; Regent Paisi heavily altered its exterior and interior appearance with Chimerstry, his mastery of the art made the American Coterie's search and destroy mission that much harder and complicated the later investigation of the chantry.
A lengthy investigation of the Chantry revealed one hundred and thirty personal journals, forty-nine previously unfamiliar thaumaturgic resource works and Regent Paisi's five personal workbooks on blood magic. Unfortunately, all of these written works were thaumaturgically encrypted and heavily warded; though the wards were bypassed by the American Coterie's ward breaking rituals, the thaumaturgic encryption proved annoyingly unbreakable until late 2012 with the coterie's development of the Full Analysis (level 5), which has allowed the coterie to bypass the thaumaturgic encryption on the Paisi Collection. An in-depth investigation of the folios has revealed a wealth of historic secrets, new thaumaturgic lore and a number of new rituals and previously inaccessible paths; the following is a comprehensive list of the paths and rituals that were available to Regent Zlatko Paisi and his apprentice Magenta DiMagro.
In addition, within the covers of these folios were found a more complete list of the so called Spontaneous Talismans of Sofia, Zlatko's theories on their origins and a mystical equation for predicting the place and time of their manifestation. Zlatko had a number of theories concerning the spontaneous talismans of Sofia and he was excited to see what their capabilities were, but he had reservations about actually interacting with these powerful items and never went beyond the observation stage of investigating them; none of these items were found in either of the previous two Tremere chantries.
130 Personal Journals of Zlatko Paisi
Each of these red leather bound journals was hand crafted by the same firm of Viennese book binders; each red journal represents one year from 1875, the year of Zlatko's embrace, to 2005 the year of his final death. The text of the journals are written by hand in cursive Croatian script; the hand-writing is consistent with other documents written in the late regent's hand.
The Hermetic Canon of House Tremere
These fourty-nine black leather bound manuscripts are written in Church Latin and illuminated in the medieval fashion, they appear to be hand made copies of original ninth century works pertaining to the original mortal house of wizards led by the archmage Tremere. Though the final seven books chronicle the rise of Clan Tremere from its inception until Goratrix formed a splinter faction in the seventeenth century called, House Goratrix and joined the nascent Sabbat.
The Five Folios of Bulgarian Thaumaturgy
Each of the five folios on Slavic Thaumaturgy are made of loose and bound sheaves of paper vellum, created in incunabula style and bound in a plain brown limp leather folio. The text of the folios is printed in modern Greek and illustrated with complex diagrams printed by a modern printing press; it is likely that these folios where created via a variant of the level one thaumaturgic ritual The Scribe.
