Paris -P- Gangrel -PLBE- The Gangrel of 1900

The history of the Gangrel is a sad one indeed. They were proud, and in some way, became contemptuous of their power. This led them in the dark ages to infighting whose gravity increased with the time. Soon enough, the forests surface decreased, and they had to fight against the Lupines to little pockets of green vegetation. This weakened the two races, which discovered too late the human civilization, backed up by the Kindred and the Technocracy (and the Wyrm) was now unstopable.

Some Gangrel fought out against it, but they soon were destroyed. Most of the others entered a state of melancolia they tried to forget by drinking from discutable sources, like the alcoholic, or even the drug addicted.

With the leadership of the brutal Niels, the decrease of their power went even faster. The return of the Lady of the Gangrel, Diane changed it all. Recognizing the corrupting influence that permeated Paris, she worked hard to create tentative bonds between the Clan and the Lupines, and under their somewhat alien friendship, their species started to flourish once more.

But the number of Gangrel still remained low, as no sane Gangrel wanted to risk his soul near Paris, and Villon didn't let them Embrace enough Childer.

The arriving of a new Bloodline called the Felys (See Bloodlinebook: Felys) was seen as a sign: The Felys explained all the evil the Setite had done in Egypt, three thousand years before, and how they had destroyed the Basthemet Bloodline, and how they had succeeded in removing the Silent Strider's presence from the Two-Lands, in a way very similar in effects to the influence the Gangrel and the Lupines felt around Paris.

The Lady's conclusion was simple: If the Setites used the Wyrm-tainted Set's presence in Egypt to weaken the Silent Striders, so they would need a strong wyrm tainted creature to make the same in Paris. Find the monster and destroy it, and the Setite's power would wane, and the weakness of the Lupine and Gangrel would disappear...

The success of the Gangrel is that they are now considered as a Noble Clan since 1965.

Organization

If not for the official Althings once per year, the Gangrel have no formal reunion date. To the contrary to most other Gangrel, though, the Parisian Gangrel meet more and more often, sometimes keeping together the whole night. These packs make the Camarilla Kindred nervous, as it reminds them of the basic Sabbat structure. The Gangrel don't care: They feel they are threatened by all and everyone, and their pack are but a logical and natural emulation of the wolf social structure.

The Gangrel Elders

Once proud and powerful, the Clan was divided and weakened. But now, under the leading of the Lady, the Clan's power is growing: The Elder is the true force behind this, using their power and growing influence among the Lupines.

The Gangrel Neonates

The Gangrel Neonates have a respect for their Elders that is almost unknown elsewhere: Until recently, the Clan was at loss, and the Neonates suffered from their apparent non-existence among the Kindred. Since the arrival of the Lady, the Clan was reorganized, and now is become once more powerful. The Neonates are usually no match for the Lupines, so they keep themselves in the City, trying to increase their influence there to further the Clan's renewal.

The Gangrel Anarchs

These never really recovered from the Clan's fall. For them, the arrival of the Lady means nothing more than another failed act. They hang with the Anarch, where they can try to further their human principles while trying to forget their animal side crying for the corruption and imminent death of Gaia. The other Gangrel avoid them whenever possible, but they are still considered as part of the Clan: Should one of them be attacked, and another Gangrel be around, then the other would run in defense.
