Sobriquet: Niels

Appearance: The appearance of Niels can be startling at first. He seems to be old and thin, well over his forties. In the other hand, his eyes gleam with vivacity, and his facial features demonstrate a quick mind.

He has a lot of animal features, but the most important are his cranium that changed slightly (the nose and the mouth are somewhat prominent, and his mouth is very large, opening well beyond his permanent fangs. His ears are long, pointed with hair on the tips. He normally wears his thick brown and grey hair in a crude ponytail.

While an Elder, Niels found leather comfortable, and black leather even better, so he normally wears black tight leather trousers, with black Doc Martins. On his torso he wears no T-shirt, but just his black leather jacket.

Behavior: Niels is a brute, and his heart is moved by instinctive passions. He listens to his Beasts will, and even if he still keeps the control (most of the time) this gives him a reputation of violent and primitive behavior. He has no patience for Intrigues and other petty games the Camarilla are fond of, and easily becomes angered when caught in this kind of web.

History: Niels was embraced by Diane in the early 14th century. He was a northern Gaul who she thought had potential. In true Gangrel fashion she hunted him, and finding him worthy embraced him. She left him alone for two years before returning to see if he had survived. As he had, she taught him about his lineage and claim to blood. After twenty years together, she left him, telling him she would be returning to Lutecia.

After a while Niels began to roam Europe. He traveled east into what is now Russia, then south. Outside an ancient town called Halstatt, he met Luisech Muirgel. She taunted him in his failing humanity, telling him of a more Gangrel way to exist. In time he learned from her and came to follow the Road of the beast.

He arrived in Paris around the 16th century, and has remained on the fringes of the city since then organizing around him the Clan, and becoming, naturally, their leader, as a wolf becomes the leader of the Pack.

Originally Niels was an ally of the Lupines. Over time things happened that drove a wedge in that trust. Over time the Gangrel and the Lupines fought. He overlook the signs, as did his once-friends, the Lupines. Fighting for recognition and territory, the two entities exhausted each other to the point of extinction. In the beginning of the century, Niels was alone with two Childer that were Gangrel. The Lupines had weakened to those whose numbers had dwindled to less than ten.

Then Niels understood. The urges that possessed him were not his own. The influence behind him and the Lupine leaders had really nothing to do with the two people. Outside forces were at work, and made profit of their weaknesses and divisions by slowly destroying and corrupting what was once theirs.

In order to rid himself of that corruption, Niels boarded a ship and sailed to the new world in 1790. He sought to lose himself among the wild lands of Canada. He wandered the forests long, breathing the clean air and savoring the empty forests. The empty grasslands of Canada brought him back to focus, and as he was making his way back to the coast so he could return to Paris, Niels found David. With his embrace, Niels left traces that would eventually lead his childe to Europe, and Paris. He then returned to the city of lights.

Niels tried once more to gather the Gangrel and help the Lupines, but was mostly unsuccessful. He had a hard time seeing the hands of others when problems arose. Try as he might, it was not meant to be that a Beast would unite the factions. Things continued to get worse until Diane returned. Shortly behind her was Niels childe David.

While Niels understood that he failed as a leader, and through he feels awe and admiration over the Lady's doings and mastery over her Beast, his pride is such that he still believes he have the right answers. Niels believes in times to come, he will lead both the Gangrel and the Lupine to clean Paris of the corruption that divided the two people.

He knows the other Gangrel respect him for his power, but that they despise him for his Road of Enlightment. He does not care. The Road of the Beast is the true one, and to show how right he is, and how wrong they are, he started a philosophical quest to purge himself from his past sins, and to renew his bond with his Beast (Could it be Golconda?). For now, he is but one more Gangrel, and even as the others powers are threatening his own, he believes his Beast will soon help him...

Recent Events: Time is of the Essence: Niels was born before the formation of the Camarilla, and he truly despises it and the other sects (such as the Sabbat, or the Anarchs). Also, as the Lupine grow restless and the Camarilla Gangrel whisper about defecting from their Sect, Niels now believes the Camarilla is much to blame for the problems of the Gangrel.

He is a strong advocate for the Gangrel to quit the Camarilla and join the Lupines in their last, desperate battle. In this, at least, he agrees with the Lady.
