In a game of SAND one plays a Hypnovatiz or Sleepwalker. Sleepwalkers are human beings  who exist with one foot in the waking or ''real'' world and one foot in '''''[[Demosoneiron]]''''' the World of Dreams.

A major theme in SAND is the struggle to operate as an individual into two different worlds while balancing two different lives all with the same time constraints as mundane folks.
 +

 +
Another major theme is the struggle to distinguish between dreams and the waking world and the resultant madness that can result when failure occurs.
 +

 +
As with all pursuits, the more one practices dreaming the more skilled one becomes, but practice means time expended and time spent dreaming means also being asleep in the waking world
 +
 +
Thus the more skilled and powerful the Hypnovatiz the more time spent asleep. It is said that the most powerful Sleepwalkers are often mistaken for coma patients as they may be inactive for days or even weeks and require helpers who provide food, water and safety to the comatose Hypnovatiz.
 +

 +
In Demosoneiron the Sleepwalker is in her element where the ability to control the dream makes her virtually divine. The weakness of the Hypnovatiz comes while awake, yet even in the waking world the Sleepwalker can still touch the World of Dreams which is the source of her power and if necessary she can expend some of her precious SAND and alter evens in the mundane world. Such somnolent effects vary greatly are measured by the Sleepwalkers level of imagination.

Game Concept

In a game of SAND one plays a Hypnovatiz or Sleepwalker. Sleepwalkers are human beings who exist with one foot in the waking or real world and one foot in Demosoneiron the World of Dreams.

A major theme in SAND is the struggle to operate as an individual into two different worlds while balancing two different lives all with the same time constraints as mundane folks.

Another major theme is the struggle to distinguish between dreams and the waking world and the resultant madness that can result when failure occurs.

As with all pursuits, the more one practices dreaming the more skilled one becomes, but practice means time expended and time spent dreaming means also being asleep in the waking world
