Amis Cletus Merleson, Earl of Emery
Appearance: The first Earl of Emery is a dapper, elderly, English gentleman of the Victorian school of dress. His silver hair is customarily short in the English military style, he is clean shaven, save for a dainty mustache and an austere soul patch. He has an angular, aristocratic face, which frames his eyes of light cyan, a bladed nose, elegant pencil thin eyebrows, strong jaw and pointed chin. For his age, Amis' posture is ramrod strait and he is tall with a rangy muscularity. Sans his signature gold watch and silver headed ebony walking stick, he probably weights no more than one hundred and fifty pounds. His suit palette is usually based on the seasons, but he tends to favor charcoal gray for night-to-night wear and basic black for his formal attire or the hunting season. Like a true gentleman, he wears gold and onyx cufflinks, he also wears a golden medieval signet ring on the middle finger of his right hand and an ancient Egyptian ring of gold, on the little finger of his left hand. Amis has a personalized Eau de Cologne made for him alone and he will wear only hand made leather shoes, usually Oxfords. To round out his affectation, he wears a bowler hat and kid gloves. At home and or in private, like an artful imperfection in a flawless stone, Amis always has a light touch of dark cat hair upon him, presumably from his two beloved, Devon Rex cats.
Background: The Earl of Emery, seems unwilling to discuss his past in any detail, obviously a very private man, he makes occasional references to his past, anecdotes and stories as denouements, not conversation pieces. To date, the only details available are these: that he was a nineteenth century English aristocrat born shortly after the turn of that century, he may have served in Her Majesties' armed services as an officer and that thereafter, he retired and was embraced by an unknown sire. Why the Earl of Emery refuses to discuss his linage remains a mystery that has hurt his standing in the great cities of the Camarilla. The only thing he has been willing to reveal, is that he has settled in southern Bulgaria to escape the uncouth, stinking and unsightly metropolises of the twenty-first century.
Personality: The first Earl of Emery is an Englishman, an aristocrat and an anachronism, in that order. A perfectionist and traditionalist, he can be a holy terror for the servants. He is a charming old man, well educated, exceedingly polite, but with a rare gift for witty criticism. For a man his age, he also has an eye for pretty young girls, though there is no sign that he indulges any unsavory appetites, just that he enjoys looking at and conversing with them. His aristocratic tastes and ethics are clear to all in the aura of noblesse oblige that seems to surround him.
