Regent Rusticus
Appearance
Rusticus is a middle aged black man. He is about 6' tall, with a strong build. His hair is closely trimmed and well coifed.
Behavior
Rusticus is taciturn and inclined to long looks rather than useless small talk. A very studious man, he enjoys discussions about the occult and his fields of study in Thaumaturgy. He will discuss vampire politics, and events in the city.
History
Alkmene Rusticus was born the son of a minor noble in Morroco. His father operated several merchant ships and traded up and down the African coast and Mediterranian. Alkmene was given a classical education, and traveled much of the known world as a young man working for his father. As the oldest of six surviving children, he became his fathers right hand man.
Alkmene worked hard and studied everything he could put his hands on. He became fascinated in the occult world while in the Levant. While a Muslim, Alkmene studded the Kabbalah, and other occult sources of knowledge. While researching the occult, he came to the attention of Mooreau, the Tremere in charge of Aftica. They met and discussed Alkmenes theories. Mooreau petitioned to embrace the scholar. Within a short period of time he was given permission.
After receiving the Cup, Rusticus studied with Mooreau for 30 years. Hazim El-Faloud was the lone Tremere to find his way to Alexandria. He had been in the city for about 200 years when he disappeared. Mooreau sent Alkmene to the city to find out what happened to El-Feloud, though he has been largely unsuccessful.
Alkmene lived in the city alone through the lean years when the city had a very low population. With the influx of the last hundred years he has seen the city grow in leaps and bounds. While he is happy with the bustling city around him, he sometimes misses the emptiness of the city from when he arrived.
Alkmene has spent his years studying his magic and learning all he could about the internal vibrations of the city. What he has learned has disturbed him. There is a darker overtone to the city, and while he is not fluent in Necromantic arts, he is not unaware of the ghosts of the city. He has seen the Wall in the city weaken, and felt the change in how the city expresses it's soul.
Archelaos Mwangi and Wigmund Harknutr came to the city to study what scrolls they could find from the ancient parts of the city. Archelaos' ashes were found on the other side of the canal wall. Wigmund vanished near the east side of the city. Neither vampire was very old, but had both survived in their own right in the world. Alkmene has been watching very carefully while in the city, and fears he is marked for death as well.
