Viscount Auxerre
Appearance
In Elysium, the perfect gentleman of the times, with only a few subtle gears and mechanical geegaws betraying his artistic bent.
In his workshop is a different matter. Heavy safety equipment, sometimes on rolling frames for extra protection along with what appears to be something not unlike the mad design of a pulp fiction writer's idea of a mad scientist - but fewer beakers.
Behavior
History
Reynauld was born the spare - as the second child of nobility that was no longer legally recognized but still held force, he was given the courtesy title viscomte along with education, tutors, and the general instruction that he had a great deal of leeway as long as he didn't bring attention to himself. While the family still held significant lands, visiting them was a rarity as the center of power was in Paris. Most days were spent avoiding his father and brother as they plotted with and against their neighbors, deciding what parties they could attend and which they should politely decline. It was somewhat fascinating, but the real fascination Reynauld had was with machines. In the heady days of the Industrial Revolution, it seemed there was no barrier that could be unbroken and Reynauld wanted to be at the forefront of such things.
At university, he threw himself into some subjects with vigor, and some with the boredom of knowing this was going to be quite useless. The interesting things were the dangerous ones - new methods were being developed for joining metals together, and these held tremendous fascination; not the least of which was the fact that these items were dangerous. He learned paris by day, and welding by night - he was in dirty and dangerous ground, certainly something his father would be displeased by. He made a second apartment near a brothel and explained to his family that he was merely indulging the far more acceptable pasttimes of drinking and whoring.
One night he received a commission from an unknown - crafting a clockwork rose of silver, brass, and steel. Something about the project intrigued him and he set to work with vigor, working both delicately and harshly. As he presented the work in a felt case, he sensed the commissioner of the piece was enthralled by his wok. and didn't move for some time. Three days later, he found himself in new company...

Hypersensitive Palate-
You have an almost supernatural ability to analyze the blood you drink. Any sip of blood you are able to sample allows a single Perception roll (Difficulty 7 + [the age of the blood in hours]) to detect familiar tastes or distinctions. If any successes are scored, the Storyteller may require a second roll to correctly identify the flavors tasted (water from the Thames, French merlot, Lingenwald factory soot, a particular family's blood).
Mechanical aptitude -
You have an uncommon understanding of the mechanical machines being developed in this wondrous age. Whenever your player makes a roll to asses, operate, or design a mechanical device developed during the last 50 years, he enjoys two extra dice in his pool. This merit is especially rare among elders and could become a serious advantage into the next century.
