Introduction: The Bronx (Bronx County) is New York City's northernmost borough, the location of Yankee Stadium, home of the New York Yankees, and home to the largest cooperatively owned housing complex in the United States, Co-op City. The Bronx is the only New York City borough with a majority of it a part of the mainland United States. It is home to the Bronx Zoo, the world's largest metropolitan zoo, which spans 265 acres and is home to over 6,000 animals. The Bronx is also the birthplace of rap and hip hop culture.

  • -- Hart Island -NYC -- Sometimes referred to as Hart's Island, is an island in New York City at the western end of Long Island Sound. It is approximately a mile long and one quarter of a mile wide and is located to the northeast of City Island in the Pelham Islands group. The island is the easternmost part of the borough of the Bronx. The island has been used as a Union Civil War prison camp, a psychiatric institution, a tuberculosis sanatorium, potter's field, and a boys' reformatory.
