Sobriquet: Marc
Appearance: Marc is a short, but well proportionned man, with short brown hair, and brown eyes that seem to shine with passion... Or madness. He usually dresses in common clothes, albeit of very good quality; unless he is in his repentance phase. At that moment, he is either naked, or wearing a monk's clothing. Lately, he tried egyptian priestly garbs, but never really loved them.
Behavior: Marc is in search of Inspiration and Beauty. He had found beauty in the person of Richard, but while really talented, he was always disappointed by his music. And even when he thought he discovered the inspiration in another person, she was Embraced by that oriental whore, Aïsha.
But since that time, he has heard new music, and so appears to be either visionary, or gallant, when he wants to appear in court.
The fact is that, despite his enlightenment, Marc likes to seduce others, perhaps to forget the fact he once hid himself like a monk. But his real pleasure is when he succeeds in destroying the mind of the one he seduced. For example, one time, he provoked a musician teenager to kill his parents and baby sister, just for the love of Marc. The teenager then committed suicide, and only understood all the horror of his act when he saw Marc smile cruelly at his folly. Never again will Marc be weakened by love.
Marc is maturing spiritually to a philosophy similar to nihilism, and he finds his hold on the Path of Ecstasy weakening as beauty appeals less and less to him.
History: Marc was a musician slave in a roman noble's family. His talent in music, as well as his good looks, earned him the affection of the wife of the house. Of course, as soon as he learned about the affair, the husband repudiated his wife and hunted Marc, who was saved in-extremes by Quintus, a noble who happened to be sensible to Marc's talent and appearance, and who happened to be a Vampire.
Marc's unlife soon became a succession of debauchery and Kine's murders. When his Sire died in the fire of Rome, Marc's research for ecstasy increased tenfold because of the sadness (some say Marc staked Quintus and looked at him while burning...). Then, he went even farther, as he met with Settites, and conspired with them.
The Dark Ages cooled Marc's sins. He forgot his Settite friends, became christian, and repented for his past actions. He joined an order of Monks, and used his newfound inspiration to create music to honor the Christian god. But in the 17th century, Marc met a young monk that made him for get his vows: Richard D'Martel was charming, naive and so... lovely. At first, Marc refused to Embrace him, but Richard tried to kill himself out of despair. Marc then committed what he believed to be the greatest mistake of his unlife and embraced the beautiful monk. Richard soon charmed Prince Beatrix, and so, escaped Marc's influence.
Marc remained alone for some years, until called back by Setites: He infiltrated the french Cour and gave the Serpents sensible information, which helped to create the chaos of the 1789 Revolution. Again, Marc's instincts were caught in such beauty, and he survived only because of the Setites. After failing to win the right to Embrace Valérie, Marc retired to a lone monastery.
In the 19th century, Marc remained alone, in penitence. But as he fled his little monastery in Verdun, when the 1914-1918 war threatened it, he came back to Paris, and tried once more to find inspiration. Strangely, he felt like a dark music whispering to him, a music of darkness, of horror, of destruction and corruption. Following the music, Marc found himself at the entrance of the building hiding the Temple of Set, and was welcomed by Theti-Sheri, Priestess of Set. She converted him to the Path of Ecstasy.
Lately, he has heard even stranger music, and searched for the secret behind the secret, for the Temple behind the Temple, and thus attracted the attentions of Sutekhem...
Recent Events:
Notes: Marc has deep ties with the Setites, back from the time when he was corrupted by a Setite Elder in Rome. While the effect of the corruption disappeared since centuries, he took the habit of his sins, and would change for nothing. Even his self-pity, felt when he realizes the monster he has become, is more a product of a proto-masochist syndrome than an awakening of his conscience. Even his multiple torpors only enabled him to dream about corruption of others and of himself.
While not really active, Marc has some quite impressive contacts with the show-business milieu, as well as influence within a great construction company, and in surface Parisian railroad stations, which gives him more than enough money for his night to night unlife.
His anger for Richard cooled down in the last decade, when he saw his Childe walking right into the Setite web of corruption...
Marc was in Torpor much of his unlife. The fact that half the time he was near enough Paris to be corrupted in the same way the capital was (that is, slowly, painlessly) gives him a strong Corruption. This means he has a potentially powerful dark side, who has yet to manifest itself, through.
His high level in Craft means that he knows quite a number of musical instruments, as well as how to create and repair them; and to play them...
Actual Aim: Wait and see... Do anything and everything to weaken both Aïsha, Valérie and Richard.
Rumours: Marc is waiting for a reason to destroy Aïsha, Valérie or Richard (False: He would like them to join him in Darkness).
