Toreador -P- Paris -P- The History of the Clan of the Rose in Paris

Toreador Ligeia.jpg

Sobriquet: Ligeia

Appearance: Ligeia is a tall, cold woman who carries herself with an air of unmistakable nobility. Her skin is pale, which contrasts with her black hair and eyes.

As a woman of fashion, she always wear the latest dress from the best artists, and half the time, she choose a dress from Arnaud. But her clothing have always in common the caracteristic of enhancing her vampiric appearance, making her more slender and paler.

Behavior: Ligeia must have been of noble origins, as all her behaviour reflects the contempt the noble were able to feel for the common people. But now, the true noble are the Toreador, while the others are somewhat bourgeois wanting to be given a title (the other Noble Clans & Bloodlines). The rest are simply put, rabble with no real lineage (Clans and Bloodline without a Duc, The Bâtards and the Anarchs are the least of the Kindred society, perhaps not even equal to the more loyal and predictable ghoul! She acts accordingly, using all her influence to keep, or even enhance the difference between classes.

But even this prejudice does not make her lose any sense of Etiquette. She is a dangerous adversary when it comes to Esprit, and she uses it in a most deadly way...

History: Ligeia came from the United States in 1902. While no one really knows where she was Embraced, they know she was in the New Continent when the fires of the Revolution burned Paris' Kindred population.

Soon, she explained she was the Ligeia Edgar Allan Poe wrote about, being, in truth the muse who inspired him in most of his novels.

The Parisian Toreador thought she was an author, and that she was writing some novel that would dwarf the excellent (some would say better...) traditions of Poe made by the French poet Charles Beaudelaire. But she instead joined the Parisian Cour, and soon became known for her ability to gossip and to find the truth from the lie in the rumors that were circulating.

Dismissed as a Poseur by the french Toreador Artistes, she found her status and prestige were decreasing accordingly: Her success was behind her... She turned part of her interests in the fashion. Paris was the City of Light and Luxury, and she would contribute to it. She organized, then, the recruitment of models, as well as the growing industry of luxury.

She surprised everyone: As she monitored each top-model agency, she discovered beautiful girls that would enchant François Villon's senses (and palate) as well as be ideal models for the Grand Couturier Arnaud. She soon became necessary for the two Kindred, and, as their relation improved, her Status, as well as her Toreador Prestige, increased accordingly.

She was even given the right to Embrace when she presented to Villon a beautiful woman (who was murdered by the Giovanni in 1994, because she was favorite in Villon's Herd, as well as being his Ghoul).

Her Childer are artists, whose talent is recognized, but who must mature their genius. This gives her a great Prestige indeed. Philippe d'Estrée is a painter of great talent, and when talking about her always remarks she was his Muse when alive, he searched for inspiration for his painting. Vivien is an author whose horror novels surprised even the most blasé critic when he was alive, and now, the Cour waits each of his --rare-- new novels with anticipation. The fact that she had consorted with a handful of Toreador Artistes or even mortal artists just before they came out with a magnificent work of art increased even more her Prestige.

But still, she is an Harpy among other Courtesans, and while she likes to see herself as a great schemer, the Elders only see her as simple Ancilla who knows a lot, it's true, but anyway that overestimate her political power among the True Elders...

Recent Events:

Notes: Ligeia is a powerful Harpy in Paris, her influence can't be dismissed so easily. She is running a design house Maison de Design de La Vierge.
