Level 4 - Storyline Rituals

Origin: Numerius

This ritual increases the duration of certain powers of Temporis. It may effect level 2 (Recurring Contemplation), Level 3 (Leaden Moment), or Level 4 (Patience of the Norns), but no other effect of Temporis, even alternate powers of the same level, or Discipline Techniques that require these powers. Rounds become minutes, minutes become hours, hours become days, days become weeks, weeks become months, months become years, etc.

System: To enact this ritual, the caster must create a finely crafted, tiny crystal hourglass, no more than one inch tall. The hourglass must be filled with a fine-grain silt and one grain of coarse sand. If the ritual is cast successfully, the larger piece of sand wedges in the neck of the hourglass, blocking it. The caster must spend a point of willpower to set the magic.

After that, the caster may invoke the magic suspended by the ritual to enhance the duration of an applicable effect. Doing so requires intent, and the hourglass must be stored somewhere on the same "plane of existence" as the caster at the time he invokes the magic. When used, the hour glass cracks, and the sand remaining in the upper chamber spills into the lower. If not used by the end of one lunar month per success on the casting roll, the magic fades. One caster may only have one instance of this ritual in effect at any time. Re-casting the ritual effectively re-sets the duration.

Notes: Though developed independently from Suspension of Incantation, this ritual borrows heavily from its systems. It is much more specific (applying to Temporis powers, rather than Thaumaturgy paths, the fact that it applies to something outside of sorcery requires further limitation. I limited it to level 4 effects, because I though applying it to Clotho’s Gift would be gratuitous.
