Pasithea
- Icelus -x- Disciplines
Introduction
In Greek mythology, Pasithea was one of the Charites, and the personification of relaxation, meditation, hallucinations and all other altered states of consciousness. The Charites are usually said to be the daughters of Zeus and Eurynome, but Pasithea's parentage is given by the poet Nonnus, as Hera and Dionysus. She was married to Hypnos, the god of sleep. As such, in addition to being one of the Charites, she was also at least a nominal Oneiroi (god or goddess of dreams).
The origins of Pasithea are lost among the ashen years of the Dark Medieval. Neither the circumstances of its creation nor its ultimate purpose can be know even by its bloodline of origin the Icelus.
Some things are known however, namely that this discipline draws much of its power and inspiration from the Dreamlands and that the discipline's muse was Pasithea. Whether Pasithea is a spirit, demigod or something stranger still is ultimately unimportant. What does matter is that she defines this disciplines strengths and weaknesses. As a muse or charity,
Diversions
The borderland between wakefulness and true sleep, daydreaming is a kind of distracted restfulness that allows the mind to drift off into whatever direction most pleases the subject.
System The player expends a blood-point and then rolls Manipulation + Subterfuge at variable difficulty based on the target's temporary willpower. The number of successes scored equates to the number of dice the Icelus can strip from a target's collective Perception + Alertness pool. Individuals thus affected are unlikely to detect the Icelus' use of this power, but exceptional individuals may possess enough awareness to realize they are being manipulated. This power can only affect one target at a time and the effects of this power wear off as soon as the Icelus ceases to concentrate on the target or the target passes beyond his or her range of perception.

Pasithea Redux
Introduction
The discipline of Pasithea was named in honor of the wife of the God of Sleep Hypnos. Pasithea was the daughter of Hera and Dionysus according to Nonnus of Panopolis (Egypt) - one of the greatest poets of the Roman Imperial era. In Greek mythology, Pasithea was one of the Charites, and the personification of relaxation, meditation, hallucinations and all other altered states of consciousness.
Pasithea the discipline concerns itself with sleep and dreams. The origins of this discipline are shrouded in mystery, but legend holds the discipline was the brainchild of a itinerate vampiric mystic called Icelus. True or false the discipline's history and origins may never be known to any save the creator's bloodline predictably called the Icelus.
Much of Pasithea's power is drawn from the world of dreams and channeled through the Icelus to affect the mundane world. Very much in keeping with the goddess Pasithea the discipline manifests itself through a series of altered states of consciousness. Initially the neonate can only alter his or her own state of consciousness and opening their awareness to the radiance of the dream realm. As their skill improves the practitioner of Pasithea can alter the consciousness of another that causes the mind to drift or even to press another into slumber. Elder wielder's of Pasithea can cast themselves or another into the dreamscape or they can step from the mundane world into the land of dreams physically.
