Jamie's Esoterica

Level 4 Tremere Thaumaturgy, based on Alchemical principles.

Blood Without Bond removes the ability of vampiric vitae in a container to initiate or renew the blood bond or any similar effect, such as valdurie.   The caster must collect the blood in a special chalice made of pure gold, and mix in powdered minerals designed to preserve the blood during the treatment. He then bubbles the gaseous product of a number of different reactions sequentially through the mixture, all the while, chanting a harmonic invocation in Latin designed to separate out the addictive, mind-altering substance. After 20 minutes, a thin oily layer is decanted and ritually burned. The blood is now safe to drink, and does not produce the maddening side-effects that normal vitae encourages in mortals.

System: In all ways not related to the blood bond, blood treated with this ritual acts exactly as normal vampiric vitae. It will sustain a ghoul's immortality, power vampiric disciplines, and tempt the beast (among other properties).

Vitae treated in this manner is even more metallic tasting and hard to drink than normal blood for the un-initiated. A ghoul vitae-addict will find the treated blood slightly less satisfying than untreated vitae, though it will sustain his or her immortality normally.

Errata: Blood treated with Blood Without Bond cannot be used to create a Vampire, more because blood not fresh from the sire's veins cannot do so, rather than any intended effect of the ritual – this does not in any way alter the tiny possibility that a ghoul who dies may be spontaneously embraced by the vitae in his or her system. Treated blood lasts just as long as untreated blood if not preserved. An unbonded ghoul (who's life is sustained by vitae treated with Blood Without Bond) is in no way protected from being bound if he or she imbibes untreated vitae.

Not part of any particular series, but it might be related to Preparing the Vessel for Transference, as it deals specifically with blood.
