Kantora is the largest city in Nova Vaasa and one of the largest cities in the Land of Mists with a population of 16,520.[1] It sits on the northwestern most corner of the Kesjermark ("King's Plain") opposite the southwestern most corner of the Ehrendton. It is built on the south bank of the Vaughn Dnar River which is joined just opposite the city by the Dnar River and becomes the Sydligdnar ("South Dnar River"). Stonegard, the fortified seat of the Bolshnik family and its patriarch Prince Othmar, sits opposite Kantora along the north bank of the Vaughn Dnar and the west bank of the Dnar.
The Sydligdnar is navigable, although with difficulty in both directions owing to its current, with small ships from the Nocturnal Sea to the docks at Kantora. The Sydligdnar and the Vaughn Dnar at this point are too deep to be forded. Bridges consistent with small ships pose an engineering problem, but none are mentioned, so ferry service for river crossings would make sense. A ferry service is known to exist between Kantora and Egertus. The Prince's Road joins Kantora to Bergovitsa. The East Timori Road joins it to Egertus, following the Sydligdnar to the sea in the east, and to both Liara and Tepest, following the Vauhn Dnar back to its source in the west.
Politically, Kantora falls within the Heartland Duchy and falls under the control of the Bolshnik family. Its mayor, Ulrik Laars, takes his orders from Prince Othmar.

Buildings
The Prince's Palace is the showy, nigh indefensible seat of the Prince of Nova Vaasa. Prince Othmar avoids it as much as possible, keeping to Stonegard instead.
Stonegard, the fortified seat of the Bolshnik family, sits opposite Kantora on the north bank of the Vaughn Dnar River and the west bank of the Dnar River.
It is from the Black Citadel-Fane that Himmelsk Naeve Pieter Jergaar commands the Iron Faith across the known world.

Law Enforcement
The city is garrisoned by 1,600 soldiers of various types. These soldiers act as law enforcement and protection for the surrounding area.
The Regular Watch
The standard foot soldiers of the watch are armed with short swords, daggers, and alarm bells. At two hour intervals the watch will stand on corners throughout the city announcing all is well. If there is a disturbance or fire, these soldiers will form up and provide assistance.
City Commanders
This is a higher ranking watch officer. There are commonly one Commander for every watch house and garrison. These commanders wear chainmail armor and carry spears and shields.
City Enforcers
These hard boys are used to bring difficult people to a higher awareness of their duty as citizens. While they mostly refrain from breaking things, they are very proficient at hurting people. Enforcers are usually armed with war hammers and daggers. They mostly wear scale armor and carry sheilds with spear points.
City Inquisitors
There are only twelve of these in the city, and each of their names strikes fear in the hearts of those who know them. these officers wear fine clothes and carry various vicious tools. Inquisitors shave their heads and wear a necklace of brass with a pendant and city crest.
Tax Collection Division
This is a squad of 10 men and woman whose only task is to collect the monthly taxes. They keep 90 soldiers with them who wear heavy armor and use heavy axes as weapons. The tax collectors usually carry black jacks and hammers. Tax collectors wear yellow and red cloaks, and are often perfectly dressed.
The Straffers
The Straffers are the personal police force of Prince Othmar Bolshnik. They instill fear wherever they go by both reputation and deed. It is not only that the behaviour of the organisation's members can be monstrous. There are rumors that these men are actually monsters, sometimes figuratively and sometimes literally. Nikko Hetch is their leader and also serves as the executioner of the Bolshnik court. The Straffers operate only within the Heartland Duchy and are answerable only to Prince Othmar
Citizens of Kantora
- Vladimiras Steponas Paulauskas: injured weaver.
Crime in The City
There is a weak black market here. The watch is pervasive, and honestly much of the crime that happens in the city is perpetrated by them, and or guided by them. While there is a thriving thieves guild, it is managed by Rodrigo Vanderkas, a commander in the watch.
City Governance
The city as well as the surrounding Domain are publicly ruled by Prince Othmar Bolsnik. Othmar is herded by a council of twelve city elders. Four of the Elders are the patriarchs of the other four ruling families. Seven of the remaining are pillars of the city. The remaining seat belongs to the Commander of the City Garrison (Twestnilk Ecopuo).
