Part of my difficulty in rating these rituals is that there is no power level mentioned. If I look at the difficulty of the roll, I would say it's a level one ritual (4 + 1 = 5) for what has been called a "out-of-clan caster", what this means is that the caster doesn't belong to a bloodline with a hereditary use of blood magic like the Tremere, hence the difficulty of four (4) which combines with the level of the ritual in this case one (1) for a total of five (5). --

Spreading the Mothers Thorns

Part of my difficulty in rating these rituals is that there is no power level mentioned. If I look at the difficulty of the roll, I would say it's a level one ritual (4 + 1 = 5) for what has been called a "out-of-clan caster", what this means is that the caster doesn't belong to a bloodline with a hereditary use of blood magic like the Tremere, hence the difficulty of four (4) which combines with the level of the ritual in this case one (1) for a total of five (5).

On the other hand, if the caster were an in-clan caster, the roll would start out difficulty three (3) plus the level two (2) for a total difficulty of five (5). The level in this case would be two (2) based on the formula.

As cool as this ritual is, I would say it's probably a level three ritual based on it's effects, area covered and it's closest comparable magical effect, Morgan's Path of Pain and it's level three effects.
