History
Lorraine is a fixture of San Francisco and has been here longer than anyone knows.
The vampire now known as Lorraine was born Kaylay Neske outside what is now known as Westin Missouri in 1844. The daughter of a farmer, Lorraine started out rough and unlearned. At the tender age of fourteen, she went to town with her Dad Robert Neske, and met a handsome young man name Tom Billingsly. Tom was enthused by the young woman, and inquired with her father about courting her. Her father wasn't really happy with the young man, but said okay.
Over the next few months Tom and Kaylay got closer, and Tom took Kaylay as a bride in 1860. The two moved west to the Kansas Territory to the new town of Abilene, Kansas. Bandits, indians, and ranchers made life difficult. Tom found he preferred going to town and playing cards over working his ranch. Kaylay had two miscarriages, and Tom stopped coming home.
Eventually Kaylay got hungry, packed her best dress, and walked into Abilene. Tanned, strong, and pretty, it didn't take her long to begin the worlds oldest profession. It wasn't fun, she didn't really like the men who sweated over her, but her belly was full and she had money for new clothes. She rented a horse a couple of times that first year and rode out to her home, but Tom never came back that she could tell.
As she started her second year at the local house of ill repute, she met a Frenchman name Laroux who was often cold to the touch, but paid very well for her time and did things to her she didn't know anyone was capable of doing. Laroux became her favorite customer. He was tall, strong, and cultured. Laroux was the dream of a lifetime.
One night Kaylay and Laroux were together at the tables, while Laroux played cards. Something happened, Kaylay wasn't sure what, but it ended with blood and body parts everywhere. Kaylay was very injured, nearly bleeding to death. Laroux fed her blood and saved her. Laroux brought her back to health, and the two of them went east to the Mississippi river. During the war years they rode the waters, Laroux gambling and Kaylay protecting his rest during the day.
After the civil war was over the two of them wandered the States and territories. Laroux wanted to go west to California, but had had enough run ins with the were-beings and the natives to no be willing to risk exposure to the west. Eventually they booked a ship from New Orleans around the Horn, stopping in the major cities of South America and eventually on to California. When they arrived in San Francisco, they were happy together, Lorraine was the acknowledged ghoul of Laroux.
The first night in the city, Laroux beat a sidhe name Carlson Kavalyov at cards. Kavalyov was intoxicated, and became enraged. A feud was born, though Laroux did his best to diffuse it. Over the next thirty years the two beings took jabs at each other, until eventually Kavalyov was successful at tricking Laroux into chasing him into an area held by werekin, and the Toreador was killed.
Panicked, Lorraine threw herself onto the mercy of the local Toreador court, pleading for a dormitor to take her on before Larouxs blood ran out. Thalia found the ghoul beautiful and took her on. Thalia cared for the stricken woman as she grieved the loss of her dormitor. It didn't take them long to become lovers, and a fierce bond formed between the two.
When Thalia and Lorraine aided in driving back the werewolves that attacked the city in 1900. For their assistance Jebediah Hawthorne allowed Thalia to embrace Lorraine. Lorraine reveled in her new power, her new freedom. A capable dancer and singer, she found a place in San Francisco as a Performer.
The turbulence of the 1906 earthquake threw everything into chaos, and once the fires were put out, Lorraine was still undead. Thalia and Lorraine put a lot of work into consolidating their power in the Toreador clan, becoming a power couple to be reckoned with.
She claims and acts as she has no desire for more power than she has but she is on par with most of the cities current 'elders'.
Recent Events
True to her course, she helped the young coterie not get to much over their head but did not take advantage of several opportunities to advance her power. Choosing to stay mostly neutral.
Abilities Demonstrated
She has high levels of all the Toreador disciplines as well as a high skill of performance, leadership and melee.
