Fortitude 7

Note: This power was presented as a fortitude 7/Auspex 2 discipline technique. However, the DA2 rules state that multiple disciplines are not necessary for powers of above level 5. Additionally, this power is only level 7 because of the precognitive aspect: knowing how to treat an illness without ever having learned how.

This grim diagnostic power functions much like Soul Sight, except that it reveals a different aspect of the subject's condition. By looking at her subject, the Cappadocian may discern exactly which physical disease, if any, ails the individual, and may cure it by lending the subject a bit of her own Fortitude.

System: When a vampire uses this power, the Storyteller may wish to make the roll in secret in order to keep the result from the player. this power requires a Perception + Medicine roll of difficulty 8, with the number of successes indicating the precision and accuracy of the diagnosis. A failure indicates that the Cappadocian does not know the disease, while a botch indicates a wholly inaccurate result. It should be noted that this power reveals only which physical symptoms ail the subject; purely psychological are beyond the scope of this power.

Thereafter, with an additional roll of Stamina + Medicine (difficulty set by the Storyteller, equal to a level appropriate to the disease; a cold may have a difficulty of 5 while typhoid has a difficulty of 9_, the Cappadocian may actually cure the disease if he recognizes it. The victim, while she does not instantly become vibrantly healthy, takes a definite turn for the better, and will fully recover in due time. A botch on this roll aggravates the illness, with possibly fatal effects.
