Sobriquet: Master Chan

Appearance: Chan is a little Asian man with a bald head, a few remaining silk white hair, and piercing brown eyes. He is so thin he seems to float in his Chinese grey kimono, but, freed from the Demon's curse by Vampiric Vitae, he is now stronger then when he was young, and his hand doesn't waver anymore.

Behavior: Chan has discovered the Beast along with Vampiredom. And he fought it with all his might and mental discipline. He meddled the principles that had held his life as a Shaolin Monk and as an Akashite to build his own Code of Honor (similar to the Dirty Secrets of the Black Hand's Path of Self-focus) and follow it along with the normal human principles.

He is calm, avoids the carefree, vicious and skin-deep-only court of Paris to continue in his illumination. Of late, he had been less and less friendly with the Tremere through no one knows why. For obvious reasons, he also sees the Japanese as a young and violent people with no history but the history they built on the destruction of others. While he knows Karate is not so different from Kung Fu (when looking past the appearances), he still has enough prejudice to sneer at the Karatekas and their mechanical, artless and poorly efficient dance.

History: Chan was apparently an old man within a family which fled China when Japan invaded the land. In truth, he was an old sage, with a little bit of sorcerer's tricks, and amazing fighting abilities. For Chan was in truth Master Chan, a Mage from the Akashic Brotherhood, cursed by Japanese demons to die of old age, with but 35 winters behind him.

It was one of those Demons that had following him, and he started murder his family members one by one, and Chan was helpless. But this kind of supernatural activities couldn't remain discreet for long, and Alexis, master of the Veilleurs just arrived to see the old man fight the Asian demon. Alexis was fascinated by Chan's style and the Demon's strange powers, but soon, the Cavalier's side of Alexis made him attack the demon.

The demon was vanquished, but Chan was deadly hurt, and one of his age couldn't recover so easily. But Alexis couldn't let this old man die. At first, Chan refused, but soon, he understood no one would protect his family, should he die. So he accepted Alexis' offer.

Since then, Master Chan is a Veilleur, and he teach his abilities to other members of the sect, and he hunts demons. And he found the western demons to be as powerful and devious as the eastern ones...

Notes: If Alexis is a sword master, Chan is a master of weaponless (as well as some eastern weapon-using) martial arts. As a Veilleur, he can teach (sometimes the hard way!) Brawl and Dodge Talents at minor costs (see the Instruction Talent for more information).

Master Chan went to travel in the eastern lands, and gathered information about the mysterious Kuei-Jin, as well as the lore concerning Zao-Lot. He was very angry when he explained it all to Alexis, and since then, he avoids the Tremere whenever possible.

It can be seen as ironic to know that Master Chan has been targeted by the Children of Osiris as a possible recruit: The sect followed his travel since he went to the Himalayan mountains.

Of all the Veilleurs (or of all the Kindred, that is), Chan is the one who have the deepest contacts with the Mages, or, more precisely, the Akashic Brotherhood. While he is not one of them, he lives with a small priesthood of Tibetan religion in their temple in the forest of Vincennes. This gives them a lot of contacts with the Asian Mages, as well as the Gangrel who claim this forest as their own. Chan helped Diane and the tibetan sages talk philosophy and cosmogony.

Chan is now training Kyosuke, still a mortal (of 16 years) but who shows promises. As Kyosuke didn't show any magical potential, he is considering asking for the Embrace of the young boy...
