Bio
Sobriquet
The White Woman / Lady in White / White Widow / The White Queen
Appearance
The Dowager is recluse and as such is rarely seen. When on the odd occasion she is encountered by the Kindred, for no mortal could ever see her unless she willed it so, she is always dressed in robes of pale linen and wearing a white veil. Should one encounter the Dowager without her habitual garments, one would see that she was Embraced at quite an advanced age and that like all her decendants she was bleached in Undeath and is albino. The Dowager is just short of five feet tall and stooped with age. Her eyes are bright pink and her face and exposed flesh is as wrinkled as an elephants hide. She is toothless save for her fangs which never retract and hang over her lower lips like tusks. A smell of rancid cheese attends her like a lover. But when she speaks or sings everyone stops to hear the honeyed voice that conquers all who hear it.
Behavior
Those rumored to have met the Dowager claim she is both elegant and extremely well educated in an antique sort of way.
History
The Dowager's history is shrouded in mystery. The only concrete detail seem to be that she is a true elder who previously resided in Rome and fled that city in the late 1600s with the mortal Inquisition in hot pursuit. The Dowager arrived in San Francisco in the late months of 1849. She brought her childe, the Nosferatu known as the Praetorian, with her. She has made the city her home away from home ever since.
The Dowager met Fyodor Orlov in the first years after coming to the city. After he became a successful miner and commerce man she chose to embrace him. He wasn't handsome to begin with, and had reached a more than comfortable place financially. Fyodor wasn't happy to be a Nosferatu to begin with, but with time found satisfaction and power in his state.
Yazhu Tang was a very successful opium dealer. He had a strong place in the Chinese community. Yazhu provided the Dowager with a connection with the Chinese underground in the city. For his part, Yazhu had been dreading dying, as he believed being so far from China and selling opium to the gwei lo would send him straight to the Hell of Liars and Thieves. Her embrace offered him an opportunity to not go to Hell, and he accepted the change with grace.
The last population that existed in San Francisco not under her influence was the Spanish Catholics. The Dowager had nothing against Christians, even if they did annoy her with their prattle about their singular God. She was also aware that the Lasombra and Ventrue were making moves in the area. The Dowager encountered a priest she found to be particularly devoted to the sick and needy. The Dowager met with him and revealed herself. His name was Salomon Vargas. Father Vargas spoke with her and found her charming, witty, and interesting. She plead her case about wanting to be of aid to the people of San Francisco and needing his help. He was hooked, and volunteered to help. To that end the Dowager gave him blood, making him a ghoul. In 1890 Father Vargas was badly injured in a mining rescue. The Dowager healed him, and then decided to embrace him. The priest agreed.
When the great San Francisco earthquake happened, the whole Hotel St Damien fell into the cracks created by the quake. Within months, the hotel had been abandoned, and the Dowager moved her charges into it. But the more she lived there, the more she was convinced it needed to be fixed by a professional in order to keep it usable. In order to do that she decided to embraced Aongus Alpin, the designer of the hotel.
Aonghas Alpin was an older man, who in his day had produced masterful buildings and had done forward thinking engineering. An amazing architect, he was also a monumental ass. The Dowager told him he would have immortality and the chance to practice his craft forever. Aongus Alpin agreed.
Recent Events
The Dowager hasn't been seen since the Fall of San Francisco and many rumors circulate as to her fate.
