An Austrian soldier, the man who would become the vampire only known as Duke met and befriended Edward Williams during the last one's years of travelling through Europe. Eventually, Williams decided to preserve his friendship forever, embracing Duke and taking him along on his voyages. In the early 20th century, sick of Europe's wars and battles, Edward chose to seek peace in the city of Denver. Duke followed, and, while Edward Williams rose to the place of Prince of Denver, he became his right-arm and main agent.
