Description: The birth of the Southern Court began with the breakup of the Tzimisce Voivodate in the last years of the Thirteenth Century. Originally, the Voivodate had included four cardinal courts of Tzimisce Knezi (rulers). The Northern Court fell to the Teutonic Knights and the Eastern Court was destroyed in the eternal war against Baba Yaga of Russia. The Western Court never entirely fell, as it was held together by its common descent from a single ancestor and an equally mutual hatred of the Clan Tremere, it eventually evolved into the League of Oradea. All that survived the ancient Voivodate was its southern border, including Macedonia, southern Bulgaria, northern Greece, and isolated sections of mountainous Albania and southern Serbia. The number of member cities has declined significantly over the centuries and only fifteen of the original fifty-two cities now call themselves members of the Southern Court. The Southern Court has seen significant upheaval in the last century and most significantly, the last decade. One of its original member cities, Pazardzhik, recently saw civil war and a change of administration. On the other hand, a previously communist held city, Gabrovo City has moved to apply for membership after a violent coup overthrew its previous rulers for a more traditional Tzimisce princedom.
