Description: The purpose of this ritual is to use death magic to remove the disease of Vicissitude from a sample of vampire blood, so that blood can be given to a subject without contaminating the unwitting ghoul. In this way, an infected vampire could utilize his blood for a variety of purposes without spreading the supernatural infection of Vicissitude. This is accomplished by carefully balancing the energy of living Vicissitude against the negative energy of Oblivion in the form of barrow-flame, so that they cancel each other out, leaving the far more durable Curse of Caine present in the physical blood. This ritual can be cast on any vampire infected with Vicissitude, but the more heavily infected the blood donor is, the more difficult it is for the necromancer to remove the supernatural disease of Vicissitude. The ritual must be cast in a graveyard and the severing of a digit (finger or toe) which will be burned to ash and used as a primary component in the ritual. It is significant to note, that a willing donor is unnecessary and this ritual can be cast on an uncooperative donor with no impact on the ritual’s success. The vampire blood thus purified must be consumed immediately or it will lose its mystical efficacy and putrify; sadly, it cannot be preserved by any known means due to the nature of the death principle.

Ingredients: A severed digit from an infected vampire / one blood point of blood / A graveyard / wood from a tragic fire
Casting: The necromancer begins the ritual by digging two holes in the soil of the graveyard. The first hole will serve as a fire pit and he fills it with wood from homes consumed by fire in which someone died. He blesses it in the name of the Chthonian gods, his ancestors or the demons of the dead and ignites the wood. Then he buries the blood donor up to at least his waist in the grave soil and invokes the blessings of the chthonic powers a second time. Then he severs one of the donor’s digits and throws it into the fire pit to be consumed by the fire. While the digit is burning, the necromancer removes a cup of blood (one blood point) from the donor and places the cup of blood on the ground between the donor and fire. When only ash remains, the necromancer combines the ashes together with grave soil and forms a complicated pattern on the ground around the cup of blood. Then, speaking condemnations from the chthonian gods, he slaps the blood donor as hard as he can and speaks a final word of power which ignites the arcane pattern with barrow-flame which consumes the Vicissitude. At first, the barrow-flame burns a deep crimson and as the Vicissitude is consumed, it turns a deep blue; in this way, the necromancer can know when to end the effect with the final invocation of the chthonian gods.
System: The player rolls Intelligence + Rituals at a difficulty of six (6) and requires two hours to cast. A botch creates a sympathetic link between the donor and the cup of blood. This link causes him, her or it to burst into cold flame and sets the barrow-flame to war with the donor’s Vicissitude inside the body. The result causes a loss of permanent appearance for each botch. If the ritual fails, the caster wastes two hours, rare components and the donor’s blood. If the ritual succeeds, then the necromancer needs a number of successes equal to the donor’s Vicissitude rating to purge the supernatural disease.
