Gaze of the Balrog

My first thought upon reading this discipline technique is that its both basic and useful, a sort of replacement for Dread Gaze, for those who don't have Presence.

The second thought that occurred to me is that effect has the most effect if its instantaneous, and neither Witness of Darkness or Shadow Play take a turn to manifest, so with the expenditure of a point of blood the effect takes place. -- Bruce

I agree - no "time" to manifest. I do have a question though: Does this expenditure require a mental action (with at least one die) to activate, or is it simply reflexive? -Jamie
Another question: The description says a "demon-like visage." Is the character still recognizable, or does it complete mask the character's face? It seems to me that the answer is obviously the former, but it should be spelled out to avoid confusion. -Jamie

Activating this discipline technique should be a free action, and for maximum effect, it should be instantaneous. But it costs a point of blood and lasts for only a single action. Because of is very basic level, it probably only grants the user two (2) extra dice to his or her intimidation dice pool. In all other ways, it should grant the user all the benefits of both powers for an action. -- Bruce

My thoughts were towards the idea that the user's bestial nature would become manifest with a theatrical scare. The vampires nature, (like dread gaze) would be superimposed on his/her face. I don't know whether the effect should be instantaneous or take the full round, but both level one discipline levels duration are a scene or until released. -- Morgan
