Tristram Young was born during the early part of the 20th century on a rural Welsh farm. He may have been the last person in all of Brittain to reasonably supliment his income by hunting, and earned the curse for his efforts.
After a reasonable adjustment period, Tristram and his sire traveled all over the isles, sticking as much as they could to the few wild places that remained and were not overrun with Gaoru.
