Appearance

Brigadier Northrop is an imposing brick waĺl of authority. While Herbert was never a attractive man extreme physical fitness and a smart uniform give him a dignified air that inspires those who meet him.

A closer look reveals the signs of rapid aging, the Gin Blossoms of dissipation, and the air of gloom that seems to ooze out of the man.

Behavior

Brigadier Northrop is a man already half in the grave. A lifetime of courage, discipline, and honor are a collection of habits that Herbie is just now learning to put down.

Once a pillar of authority and order the Brigadier is crumbling slowly in the grip of ennui with an unconcious goal towards oblivion.

Herbert is tired, not just from the strain of running a dangerous covert research project, but of war specifically and life in general.

History

Herbert Northrop was born in 1848 to indigent Irish parents who worked as domestic servants in the household of a family of English gentry. Herbie went to a prestigious millitary school at the cost of his gentile godparents. And attended the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst for four years before taking his commission.

The next thirthy-five years of Herbie's life was spent on the battlefields of the Empire beginning with the British expedition to Abyssinia (1867–1868) and ending with the Second Boer War (1899–1902).

Recent Events

Herbie returned home late last year with the hope of a justly earned retirement, but was asked to perform one last service for "King and Country."

Under the guise of a final mission to update the fortifications at St. Mawes and to train Britain's best and brightest in techniques of guerrilla warfare developed during the Second Boer war the Brigidier has taken charge of a off-the-books project concerning biological warfare.

In preparation for the next major war, Brigadier Northrop has been entrusted with overseeing Operation Cerberus a covert military project to create a dedicate corp of inhuman soldier created through the radical applicate of the new scientific discipline of virology.

The Brigadier is supported by a staff assembled from experts in biological warfare, covert intelligence and ironically the Church.
