Appearance

The Baron de Rais is a short and compact man with the physique of a gymnist and the grace of a ballet dancer. Within the Maison he dressess in the attire of a 15th century French nobleman. Outside on the streets of Paris.he dresses dark and elegant fashiins of the beau monde. His well sculpted hamdsome face bears the unmistable stamp of inherent self-assumed superiority and a powerful if predatory masulinity. His wavy dark hair is work longer than the current fashion and is only touched here and there with traces of grey. It is in his eyes that the observer will detect a evil mind for the dark orbs are more like those of a bird of prey than a man.

Behavior

Gilles was a man with a complex and multifaceted personality. Before his involvement in the Hundred Year's War the young Baron de Rais was a man with a strong sense of morality and idealism. He was also a charismatic and visionary nobleman known for his ability to connect with others emotionally. But the years of relentless conflict took their toll turning the once idealistic warrior into a twisted killer who took pleasure from the suffering of others. His dark rebirth has refined his cruder desires and predilections to a razor's edge. He is seductive and manipulative, but displays an antique honor which commands respect and fear from those around him.

History

Gilles de Rais, born around 1405 in Champtocé-sur-Loire, Anjou, was a French nobleman, knight, and military leader. He served as a Marshal of France and fought alongside Joan of Arc during the Hundred Years' War. After Joan of Arc's execution, Gilles de Rais retreated to his estates and was later accused of the abduction, torture, and murder of numerous children, with estimates of victims ranging from 30 to over 150. He was tried and convicted in 1440, sentenced to death by hanging, and his body was partially burned at the stake. Gilles de Rais is remembered as one of history's most notorious serial killers and a figure of medieval legend.
