History

Essie Patterson was born the youngest child and only daughter of a Mancester socialite and a Liverpool Irishman turned captian of industry. The union was turbulent but fruitful, but Essie was an unexpected flowering of love late in a cooling romance. All of Essie's brothers were significantly older than her and all had move on to create their own lives and this essentially made the girl and only child and as such - spoiled.

Suffice it to say Essie was the apple of her father's eye and this bond between father and daughter drove the girl's mother to pursue the activities of her age and class namely charity dinners, theater season and discreet younger men. Essie's father being significantly older than his lady wife was consumed with the continued acquisition of wealth and the creation of new industries.

Regretably Essie became a trophy of her parent's decaying marriage and learned many of life's lessons the wrong way or learned to apply them to bad ends. From her father Essie learned the rudiments of business and how lead and command men, from her mother she learned the social graces and the power of her sex.

For herself she leaned that she wanted power over her own life and then over the lives of others. This last lesson came as a result of being sent off to a finishing school in France where she came into contact with the man who called himself Mark Alex David although she knew him by another name. Initially he was introduced her at a soiree in Paris and the dashing dark magician offered the young heiress just the kind of power she craved. As her tutor in all things forbidden he found her an apt pupil, and in him Essie found a skilled lover, it was only natural that he would bring her into the company of other seekers after darkness. In France he called himself Dieudonné Mathis Cousineau and was a member of that most vile and feared group of diabolists the Société des Quarante Vipères.
