Jamie's Esoterica

Level 3 Hermetic Thaumaturgy, based on Kabalistic principles.

This ritual creates an amulet to block the investment “Psychic Tracker,” and may affect similar far-sensing demonic abilities. It includes concepts drawn from Ward vs Demons and Ward vs. Scrying.

System: This ritual begins with a lead disc about 1 1/2” diameter – the size of a large coin. The caster sprinkles the disc with the tears of pious (observantly religious, not necessarily those with faith) humans, then immerses it in a golden bowl containing water consecrated by a priest. The bowl with the amulet inside is then left to dry in the sun on a cloudless day. (The Weather Channel, or even auguries could be useful here, as enough such tears will be hard to collect). The next night, the caster collects the newly formed amulet, and inscribes the appropriate Kaballistic rune, invoking an Angel whose aspect is protection, while spending a willpower to bind the magic to the amulet.

If the casting roll is successful, any attempt to locate or track someone wearing the amulet using infernal or demonic senses automatically looses successes equal to the number of successes the caster achieved. The amulet remains effective until it is held by a demon or physically destroyed. It does not prevent a demon from seeing or otherwise sensing the area around the protected individual, but will remove the protected individual from the scene.

Errata: The amulet may be banded with another metal or enclosed inside a transparent casing to improve its durability without damaging its effectiveness. It is usually worn on a chain as a necklace. This ritual does not prevent a demon or infernalist from directly seeing, hearing, smelling, etc. a protected individual: Their normal sight works just like that of anyone else. It prevents Demon or its minions from "reaching out" and scrying the character, or even just knowing where they are, as in the Psychic Tracker investment.
