Ok. It seems we have re-entered a period of magical research and that demands that I offer up suggestions on how rituals and paths should be outlined. The above ritual, Theft of Life Energy, is indeed viable with some exceptions. First let me say style counts in necromancy, as you (Brian) are now a Viking, it makes sense that your magic reflect that by taking on more than minor elements of Scandinavian mythology. Necromancy is very Scandinavian as we have seen through the introduction of the Valdaermen from Dark Ages Mage. Having read this ritual several times, it appears to me that this necromancy ritual has more in common with the Sielanic Thaumaturgy of the Telyavelic Tremere than the magic of the Norse magic of the Valdaermen. Life-stealing weapons are great, especially at your level of power, yet the background material needs work. The description is good, but things like runes might be addition, otherwise I am fine with the casting portion and system with one exception - the number of successes on the ritual determine the number of life-force that can be stolen via each attack. The reason behind this limitation is that each casting of this ritual can create magical weapons of variable power, thus some of the weapons will be more sought after than others. Each weapon being distinct and requiring a human sacrifice, if not three, should be individually named - its tradition. Lastly, if the necromancer wants to heal himself or herself of aggravated damage, they may do so with the stolen life-force, but it still costs a point of Willpower. -- "The Magister 13:15, 4 October 2018 (MDT)"
I have not changed any of my rituals based on my adoption of the Norse faith. They are not directly related and I have treated my ritual style as something that would be difficult to change. One of the clues that I have not always followed the Norse faith would be my ritual style. That being said, if you think ritual casting is more faith based and is more fluid I can update this with a more Norse flair (which I like and is not a bad thing). Second, we have treated the theft of life energy as exempt from the willpower rule before. It is harder to do more direct. One of the reasons I have a separate ritual to change life force to blood. Brian -- You are correct that we have in the past waived the necessity of Willpower expenditure and in the spirit of consistency and diplomacy, I concede that it is unnecessary for this ritual or other similar powers of necromancy. -- "The Magister 21:29, 12 October 2018 (MDT)"
