The Necromantic Library of Phineus -x- Necromantic Mnemonic Rituals

Description: A relic is a memory given shape in the Underworld. The only objects across the Shroud not made from souls, relics are those things that inspired great passion in life, which linger on in death. No longer in existence in the lands of the living, relics can survive for centuries in the Shadowlands. This ritual is a dark divination allowing the necromancer to perceive relics in the Underworld. The ‘Rutilus Os’ tints the caster’s sight crimson and reveals the telltale glow of a dying passion and the intensity of that light determines the magnitude of the memory that has taken form in the Underworld.

Origin: Benesj the Black -- While the necromancer known as Benesj the Black produced the latest versions of Greco-Roman rituals, the pale rites underwent three separate evolution beginning with the Cappadocian style and proceeding through an Egyptian style and finally the Greco-Roman style. All such rituals are based on the principle of Authority rather than that of Taboo.

Ingredients: a possession of the deceased & a dead human eye

Casting: The ritual begins with the necromancer injecting a dead human eye (it need not be fresh) with some of his blood. While holding the eye in his left hand, the necromancer closes his own eyes and begins a droning chant in Greek meant to place him into a light hypnotic trance. Once this is accomplished, the necromancer will see the world in a murky distorted way, the only visible light is given off by the relics of the deceased.

System: Intelligence + Rituals = difficulty four (4). Successes divided between the turns that the eye can work in this manner and the visual acuity of the eye to track the halo of a given relic. This ritual takes five (5) minutes to cast.

Reference: There are no examples with which to compare in White Wolf canon.
