History: Raleigh was born to a plantation family outside of Memphis. He grew up there, taught proper manners and behavior of a gentleman. Raleigh went away to school in Atlanta to learn more about business, and make acquaintances. Raleigh returned from school and worked hard to build and maintain the family plantation, never getting around to marriage until in his early 30's. He married Miss Penelope Wainwright on a bright June morning in 1858. They lived in his parents house and helped run the plantation for his parents who were getting along in years. When the War Between the States exploded, Raleigh joined up and went to war as a proud Rebel. Made a Major as a man of his standing should be an officer, Raleigh was a good commander.
At the Battle of Vicksburg he was shot several times, and would have died forever had he not been found by a Malkavian wandering the field that night. The vampire drained him, then gave him a good shot of blood to bring him back. The creature sat and talked to him for the majority of the night, explaining his new existence, and giving him some warning of the coming madness. As Raleighs mind broke with the smell of blood and death all around him, the vampire took him to a partially collapsed cellar to await the day. When Raleigh awoke his Sire was gone, and Raleigh knew he had to get back and see his Penelope. Raleigh ran through the night, stopping only to hunt or avoid patrols of men in order to get home.
When he got there his home was burned, the slaves gone and his Penelope dead. Raleigh frenzied, and spent several days hunting any humans on his property like a wight, returning each dawn to see his Penelope and tell her how things were going to be all right. In his mind she still talks to him.
