Pleven Province
The Province: Plevin is a large province in north-central Bulgaria. It holds a population of about 300,000, mostly Greek Orthodox Bulgarians, with noticeable minorities of Turks, Muslims, Roman Catholics and Roma. Since the fall of Communism, the regions economy has made a difficult transition from heavy to light industry.
Provincial capital: the City of Pleven, boasts about 120,000 people. Most significantly, it is the home of the oldest Tremere chantry in Bulgaria. Though the inner workings of the Pyramid are obscure to outsiders, it has become known that a figure known as Lord Ludwig is associated with the elusive arcane fortress. Ludwig's minions seem to be everywhere in the province. Over the last two centuries, they have efficiently exposed and removed infiltrators from several of the province's lesser towns. The last concerted attempt to remove the Tremere from Pleven occurred in the 1877-1878 under cover of the siege of Pleven during the Russo-Turkish war. Ultimately, one Tzimisce Viovode was destroyed, another disappeared mysteriously, and a third was irrecoverably weakened, and fell to its rivals within a decade.
