Back to Level 4

Caster spends fifteen minutes in Meditation, holding an object that is linked with the subject. Once his thoughts are focused he pricks his finger, and lets the drop of blood fall to the map. The number of successes he gets on the ritual determines how accurate the ritual is.

Effect: The drop lands on or near the location of the subject.
1 Success: within 3 inches of location on map
2 Successes: within 2 inches of location on map
3 Successes: within 1 inches of location on map
4 Successes: Exactly on the location the subject would occupy.

Accuracy of the map does affect this ritual

Errata: What kind of map is needed? We use the ritual all the time and we have argued about it.

Jamie's suggestion: Any physical surface that accurately depicts the area in question. Holograms won't work, nor will projected images. Otherwise, the map may be written on any substance from stone to wood to paper to sand. The depiction must be accurate to within a reasonable scale, or the magic cannot function. Kate's writeup indicates that the map's accuracy does affect this ritual, to which I'll add the obvious: the scale of the map also affects the ritual. If the caster wishes to use a ball-room-sized map of Europe, he or she must be high enough above it to easily perceive its entire expanse.
