Jacob's Kiss
Back to Level 6.
An old Middle Eastern legend says that one can capture a dying person's soul in his last breath and take on his power and knowledge; that's why Jacob kissed his dying father Isaac. With suitable preparation of trance and prayer, an ashipu can perform this feat. Of course, the easiest way to be on hand when a person dies is to kill her yourself.
System: The magician can maintain the special trance state for up to an hour, but no longer, and must kiss the target exactly on his last breath. If the ritual succeeds, the ashipu captures and eats the target's soul. Jacob's Kiss works only upon victims who breath, so a sorcerer cannot consume the soul of a just-destroyed Cainite.
The magician gains a reserve of "spare" Willpower points, equal in number to the target's Willpower Trait. Any Willpower expenditure comes from this pool, as long as it lasts; these points never recover. The magician also gains all the target's Abilities, for as long as the pool of stolen Willpower lasts.
