Gift of the Mind-Spider
The caster invokes the power of nightmares to craft a derangement in the mind of the victim.
System: Each successive night, the caster mixes vitae with a hallucinogenic venom freshly drawn from a live spider, a body relic from the victim, and hashish smoke. The caster intones a mantra detailing the madness he intends to inflict. At the ritual's end, he intones the name of the victim, and blows the smoke into the ether.
The dream invoked is not exactly a nightmare, and does not reduce the victim's dice. Instead, it is surreal, and vaguely disturbing. Each night the victim subconsciously resists the madness with a Self-Control + Dreaming roll at a difficulty of 7. If the caster accumulates as many resisted successes as the victim has willpower, the derangement takes hold as normal. If the caster fails the ritual, or does not cast the ritual for a night, he looses all accumulated successes, and must start over. If the caster botches, not only does he gain the derangement in the victim's place, he cannot try to curse the victim again with Gift of the Mind Spider for one year per “one” rolled. Using the victim's True Name increases the victim's difficulty to resist by 1.
