The Blind Beggar is one of London’s most famous pubs, acquiring international infamy in 1966 when Ronnie Kray (one half of the famous Kray twins that ‘ran’ London in the 1960s) murdered fellow underworld figure, George Cornell. The pub has become a popular tourist attraction with London tourists who hold a fascination with the city’s gangland history.

The Blind Beggar is located in the East End of London and still operates as a fully functioning pub and it is perfectly safe for London visitors to enjoy a few drinks, while absorbing some of the city’s more gruesome history.

The Blind Beggar is also a popular London attraction with Salvationists, as it is the location where the Salvation Army was founded in the 19th Century. It is said that William Booth gave his first open air sermon outside The Blind Beggar, which led to the formation of the East London Christian Mission, who were later renamed as The Salvation Army.
