Bane Mummy Saatet-ta.jpg

Sobriquet: The Darkener of the Earth, Queen of a Thousand Ravening Locusts, and the Ebon Horror of Khutu, among countless other melodramatic nicknames.

Appearance: Saatet-ta was once a truly beautiful woman, but Set's incomplete and perverted ritual changed that for all time. She stands just over five feet tall, with a body that is a reflection of her twisted soul. Her skin is blackened and cracked like a dried lake bed, and her once magnificent hair is a sparse tangle of steely gray. She is known to use her magic to veil her boy in the glamour of her lost beauty, but regardless of her form, Saatet-ta's eyes burn with a feverish light.

Behavior: While Saatet-ta is a mighty being, to be sure, she is the weakest of the seven Bane mummies, and she is often treated as the runt of Apophis' litter. This intolerable state quickly drover her insane after her rebirth, and it has become worse due to numerous deaths and sojourns through the hells of Egypt's underworld. In a pathetic attempt to overcompensate, Saatet-ta alternatively dubs herself with a wide variety of dark and dramatic epithets. She often unleashes one megalomaniacal scheme after another in a vain attempt to prove her superiority over her brethren.

If there was ever any lack of devotion on the part of Saatet-ta towards the cause of Set, it is long in the past. She, alone of all the Bane mummies is completely devoted to the resurrection of great Set and often works as an equal with his followers, frequently using her brilliant intellect to add complicated and perverse twists to the next Setite plan.

The eldest of the Followers of Set use Saatet-ta on missions of subterfuge and chaos, two of the few things that still bring her pleasure. Saatet-ta is a vile entity and a vain one.

History: Saatet-ta may once have been a childe of Set, a vampire. Most who know of her existence are certain that this is not possible, but she has neither confirmed, nor denied this rumor. What is known, is that under a different name, she was one of Set's most favored. Saatet-ta may even have been his lover at one time.

It is also rumored that she betrayed great Set by trying to inform the Cult of Isis about his plans for its ultimate destruction. The only ones who would know for certain are not talking. In any case, when the time came for her first rebirth, Set renamed the woman Saatet-ta after one of the Incarnations of Apophis, the ruler of ancient Egypts demons.
