Mesdames de la Vigne Questing
The Ladies of the Questing Vine are a group of witches not unlike those of the Verbena...more druid than otherwise. They are descended in a tradition of magic calling on Vesta. It involves a sacred grove of trees in the Parc des Buttes Chaumont when they are not worshiping at the The Temple de la Sibylle or the Grotto there.
History
The Mesdames de la Vigne Questing was created by Mdm Quinn Attwood. She was raised by a protestant father and mother, schooled by a good tutor. Taught to read the old Roman Latin, she became fascinated by books on Vesta in the the Bibliothèque nationale de France. She stumbled on arcane texts that were never meant to be put out for the public to read.
Following the texts Quinn began to follow the rituals and do as they asked. She began to have success at it, as a natural sorcerer. The texts Quod Autem Manent Immolabant Vesta and Vesta Sanctus Est Ignis taught her much about the magical world. With the blessings of Vesta Quinn realized she needed sisters to keep the Sacred flame, and so the others were brought in one at a time.
Style
The majority of the spells cast by these women are done around or with the aid of the sacred fire. Water is brought from the well boiled, being used for scrying purposes. Sacrifices to Vesta are mandatory, grain, milk, blood, carved items.
Paths used out in the world away from the flame are done using a charred piece of wood from the sacred fire, used to inscribe Latin incantations and mystic symbols.
Vestals are expected to abstain from sex with men, if not be actual virgins. A woman who has lain with a man cannot practice her magic for a lunar week. The taint of the man will keep the magic from succeeding. Though it does create some spectacular fails. It should also be noted that as Vesta is the Goddess of Fertility in the Roman pantheon...her followers are guaranteed nearly 100% conception should one lay with a man.
Organization
Quinn acts at the Virgo Vestalis Maxima. The others report to her, and they work their combined magic together, with Quinn as the lead.
