History: An antiquities scholar of Austrian descent, Von Aupfholme was Embraced in the late 18th century by Councilor Mooreau, the Tremere elder responsible for the clan's efforts in Africa at the time. Mooreau was the second Tremere to be assigned to the Dark Continent (the first disappeared under mysterious circumstances some years before), and he needed someone he could trust to negotiate Cairo on his behalf. As Von Aupfholme was more than eager to explore Egypt's mysteries, he made a apt pupil who proved to be more than up to the task. In short order, the Egyptian Museum and Antiquities Service were forever ceded to the Tremere, and both prospered under Von Aupfholme's meticulous guidance. Shortly thereafter, however, Mooreau was "reassigned", leaving Von Aupfholme mystified and alone in Cairo.

He reported dutifully to Councilor Mooreau's replacement, a French noblewoman named Elaine de Calinot, up until the latter's recent disappearance from her chantry in Algiers. Convinced that all the incidents are related, he began to look for an opportunity to present itself that would allow him to commit serious clan resources towards the missing councilor's discovery. \

When an ancient temple appeared in the Western Desert outside of Wadi Natrun, he seized his chance, leaving immediately with a team of local archaeologists. Initially, Von Aupfholme maintained regular correspondence, sending back status and inventory reports with each shipment of relics from the temple -- a collection known as the Shenouda Cache. However, such reports have ceased recently, and the chantry has not heard from him now for several weeks. Although they are usually preoccupied with their own agendas, the Tremere of Cairo are beginning to legitimately fear what might have become of their regent. {Circa:1998}

As a side note on Kasper von Aupfholme, I feel its worth pointing out that at no point did the authors state, one way or the other, whether Kasper is actually dead or if something else entirely happened to him. Of course the simplest thing would be for him to have died, but sometimes that isn't the most interesting plot-line to progress, regardless, I am leaving that decision to another as I don't feel its a question that needs an answer. -- "The Magister 12:01, 6 June 2016 (MDT)"

While I will likely be storytelling Cairo briefly, I feel its important that save for minor oversights on the part of the authors, that the character descriptions and statistics are those portrayed by the source-book: Cairo by Night. This means they were specifically set for the "Year of the Scarab" product released in 2001. So the statistics of the characters are four decades behind those of the players. In the case of the city's elders, of which there are a considerable number, this isn't that important, but for the neonates and to a lesser degree the Ancilla of Cairo, it means their statistics and recent events need to be updates. While I intend to do that, it will take time and in the case of the Tremere and Followers of Set, that might not be entirely appropriate as I will likely be interacting with them the most, if and when my character reaches Cairo. -- "The Magister 12:01, 6 June 2016 (MDT)"
