Gross Arcana
The five Gross Arcana are the Arcana which represent material concepts present in the Fallen World. While the Subtle Arcana are only subtly felt beyond the Supernal Realms, echoes of the Gross Arcana are felt in the physical laws by which the Fallen World operates. Thus the Gross Arcana tend to affect those laws, directly altering the matter and energy of the physical world.
Each of the Supernal Realms is ruled by a matched pair of Gross and Subtle Arcana which are different expressions of the same metaphysical concept.
The Gross Arcana, with their ruling Realm and Subtle pairs, are:
- Forces, the Gross Arcana of the Aether, paired with the Subtle Arcana of Prime.
- Life, the Gross Arcana of the Primal Wilds, paired with the Subtle Arcana of Spirit.
- Matter, the Gross Arcana of Stygia, paired with the Subtle Arcana of Death.
- Space, the Gross Arcana of Pandemonium, paired with the Subtle Arcana of Mind.
- Time, the Gross Arcana of Arcadia, paired with the Subtle Arcana of Fate.
