Gluttony: Overindulgence in food, drink or intoxicants, or misplaced desire of food as a pleasure for its sensuality ("excessive love of pleasure" was Dante's rendering). In the Latin lists of the Seven Deadly Sins, gluttony is referred to as gula.

The distinction I am making here is this, the vice of gluttony isn't the same thing as the derangement of Gluttony. When a vampire suffers the derangement of Gluttony, that individual essentially frenzies while feeding and requires a willpower expenditure to stop. The Seven Deadly Sins or Vices are (a Christian point of view): Pride or vanity, Envy or jealousy, Wrath or anger, Sloth or laziness, Avarice (covetousness, greed), Gluttony and of course Lust. While the vampiric Beast certainly has a dominating influence over both Wrath and Gluttony, the rest of the seven deadly vices are more ephemeral. While it is easy to tie the vices of the Ravnos to the Beast directly, I tend to think deceiver's clan curse is a bit more subtle than that. Each Ravnos is a victim of his or her particular vice and while that vice affects them every time they are presented with the correct stimuli or circumstances, it isn't just a descent into bestiality. So my point is, it isn't like the Brujah losing control each and every time they must roll versus frenzy, its more that the Ravnos live their lives centering on certain things that they can abstain from time to time, but like a bad habit the vice presents itself eternally. The deceiver in question might not even realize that he or she has a vice until its pointed out by someone else. -- "The Magister 22:43, 23 January 2017 (MST)"

I like your distinction...this is more like Tremen's hatred of Orientals. It's everywhere, and encountering the opportunity to drink can even go so far in my mind as sleeping mortals...sexually aroused women who like to be fed on...those under your mental control. Gluttony as a vice is always going to hang in the air...and the vampire with it will have to keep talking itself out of taking a sip...or a whole chalice. -- Keith 8:50 24 January 2017(MST)
