Description: The ring is an enchanted item that allows the user to see and communicate with the dead while wearing it; in no way does the ring allow the user to see the Underworld, only the dead. The ring is of blackened and tarnished silver, has an Egyptian scarab motif with a staring eye in the midst of its back and has a Ptolemaic Greek inscription on the inside of the ring’s circumference. The ring is extremely cold to the touch, cold enough to chill the Undead.
Origin: Benesj the Black
Ingredients: The ring is made from silver funerary items taken from grave sites, melted down and mixed with the ashes of humans who were burned alive; this sacrifice is what gives the ring its power.
Casting: The ash of the sacrifice is completely consumed in the casting of the ritual and this is what blackens the silver.
System: When casting the ritual to enchant the ring, the caster rolls Intelligence + Rituals = difficulty five (5) and needs three (3) successes to effectively create a DM ring. The ritual takes one (1) night to cast and the ring is permanent until destroyed. When using the ring, the user simply slides it onto one of his or her fingers and rolls Perception + Occult = local Shroud. The more successes the user makes on the roll, the better he can perceive and be perceived by the dead. Those that use the ring are more susceptible to the powers of the dead (-1 to Arcanoi) while they are using it.
