By using a triniary computer to dial up and call a computer or phone at their home node, the Mage can connect to it and absorb needed quintessence. The connection must be maintained, and a role is still required for quintessential absorption. This rote has been expanded to higher levels, using the networks as conduits for quintessence to their uses.
