History
Born Hildigardis Nedeljka Matveev, Melete was the fourth daughter of a lesser lord outside Kiev. When times were hard her father reluctantly sold his beautiful but bookish daughter to Leudegar Mintov, a Prince in the city. Lord Mintov didn't like her name, so instead he named her Melete when he sent her to his Oda. The Lord Mintov had an unfortunate tendency to father girls. In fact, to date he had already had seven, without one boy. One evening an old woman came to the Lords mansion in order to check one of his concubines who seemed to be in labor.
The old crone Ricmod Zdrakov needed assistance with the labor and Melete helped her. The old woman asked Lord Mintov and he gave the old woman permission to train Melete in midwifery. Over time Melete met with the crone and learned much from her. One day she asked her for a way to ensure that she would have the Lords first son. The old woman smiled a wicked smile. The old lady taught her a ritual to find out if another woman was having a boy or a girl baby. Zdrakov taught her some potion work, and Melete learned how to make a poison that would kill any baby carried by another woman.
Melete also began to use potions to woo the Lord to her more, though she loathed him. His attention brought more comfort and freedom. She hated having to bed the filthy man, but she had no choice. Zdrakov was running out of things to teach her, and Melete didn't want to wind up an old woman like the crone. Twice Melete became pregnant, twice she killed the fetus, as it wasn't a boy to make her important to Mintov. Melete didn't want to give him another girl to hate.
When the Pageant came to town, Melete was entranced by the dark beauty of Herais and amused by the fumbling antics of the extremely handsome Damokles. To her surprise she was actually very attracted to the woman Herais. After the show the two drank wine and talked most of the night, winding up in bed together. Melete was in love for the first time. Over the next week Melete did everything she could to spend time with Herais. Herais told her stories of far away places, and Melete was intoxicated with the idea of wandering the world with the dark beauty Herais. The two of them decided to convince Damokles to marry Melete and pay a bride price to take her away. The two manipulative women had him convinced in no time. Melete was wedded to Damokles, making her the sister-wife of Herais. The two women sexed the juggler prince until the Pageant was well and truly away from Kiev, then got him drunk, beat him, and violated his body and manhood. Finished with him, they kicked him out of his own wagon, and told him to never touch another woman again, or they would make him regret his existence.
Melete has worked hard to learn the intricate dances of her husbands family, so she can perform with her lover Herais. Melete has also been working part time with Fedlmid the abotionist. She has been using her knowledge of potions and medicine to be useful to the Pageant. She takes her turn with her new husband, but loathes him and is glad that she can't get pregnant with the Pageant.
