World of Darkness -- Pax Romana

Description: The elusive lore of the Ghul or Ghilan (plural) is sought by the few, and fewer still survive a direct encounter with these dread beasts. The Ghilan are unholy shape-changers that are neither demons, ghosts nor the undead, but something else entirely. Often referred to as the "Children of Iblis", these monsters can feed upon all manner of flesh, but they hunger most for the living flesh of mankind. Perhaps more importantly, these beasts also feed upon the emotional pain of their victims and draw that pain out unto death. Gifted with powers of supernatural perception and an uncanny awareness of what lies within the human heart, these creatures will stalk a chosen victim with patience and cunning, delving into every aspect of a victim's life in search of that most beloved person with whom the victim shares the closest of ties and baits a trap from which none cane escape. Even if a victim or hunter wounds a Ghul, unless they utterly destroy the foul thing, in time it can return stronger than before. Perhaps the only blessing to this horror is that the Ghilan are a rare breed and do not often procreate.

  • Novice: Ghilan hunger for living flesh, if it starves, its integument decays and it becomes feral. But fire is sovereign against the Ghilan, for it is Iblis' curse upon them for their escape from hell.
