Introduction

The Dominion of Sacrifice governs the ability of Avatars to enhance a pool of Divinity, their own or that of another. Sacrifice can be made in another's name, and such sacrifices are how the children of man show their love or fear for their deity. Sacrifice is not an innate talent, rather it is a skill learned from another. Some mortals so entranced by the deeds or splendor of their chosen god are able to utilize sacrifice in a crude and unpredictable manner. Over countless years or centuries these practices can be amalgamated and then taught to the next generation of the faithful. In the case of Avatars, self-sacrifice is indeed possible as the immortal does intentional and irrevocable harm to his or her own form. Legendary nature of self-sacrifice is how many of the leaders of the current pantheons ascended to hegemony. But such sacrifices to the all-powerful forces of fate can set the Avatar on a specific path from which there is no escape.
