Sobriquet: Miko to friends - recently - the Black Miko to her enemies and victims.
Residence: Officially, Kamiko has resigned any claim to the Bankya district and at the same time she and her coterie are attempting to persuade the prince to cede them the rights to the district of Poduyane.
Background: The only daughter of Hideo Tanaka, the president of Tanaka Industries and the clan patriarch of the Tanaka clan. Kamiko entered the world even as her mother, a woman of delicate health, took leave of it. She was raised by her maternal aunt Haruka, a no-nonsense woman of stern traditional values. When not in the company of her aunt, she was raised by a small army of servants and tutors. Later, as she began to blossom into womanhood, she was ushered off to the finest boarding schools for young women of upper class Japanese society. It was assumed that she would eventually marry one of her father’s more important associates in Rio de Janeiro; such a merging could have make Tanaka Industries a true Zaibatsu.
In the last few years since her embrace, Kamiko has risen to become the Scourge of Sofia. Her hunting of transients, performance as an enforcer of the city, the occasional wet-work or odd job for the Clans have made her a wealthy woman, both in money and prestation. Her formation of a coterie with Zorka the Brujah and Liza Taft the Caitiff has shifted the balance of power in Poduyane district.
It is also known to a select few that she has made efforts to unify the Assamites of Sofia and has met with some success. Whether the formation of a permanent Assamite organization in Sofia is possible or positive, remains a question of growing importance. It is clear that the ambitions of this brash neonate appear unlimited.
Image: Kamiko is attractive young Japanese girl, with an athletic body, dark eyes, dark tanned skin and a cleanly shaven scalp. These combined traits give her an exotic look not unlike the Centari women of the Babylon 5 television series. She is distinctive and unforgettable for these reasons and is drawing all kinds of attention. If she is to survive as an assassin, she will have to work to play down her appearance.
Personality: Miko is an intelligent, even brilliant young woman with a passionate nature that she has learned to quietly express through pain and distress. Pain is her secret garden, a fortified palace that neither her spinster aunt nor the overly inquisitive servants could penetrate. Recently, Miko has shown a violent and rebellious side as she has entered the early stages of neonate angst; as with all neonates, if she can survive this self-destructive phase, she may hold the promise of immortality.
Quirks: She is extremely well educated, speaks multiple languages (Japanese, English, Portugese, Bulgarian) fluently and possesses the social skills necessary to navigate the world of international corporate society, clandestine Mafiya meetings or the back alley gatherings of the Bulgarian homeless.
Apparent Age: Early 20s
Recently: The last two years have been particularly difficult for Miko. The rising number of transient Greek and Turkish Kindred who seek asylum in Sofia, with or without the Prince's permission have made the job of scourge all the more necessary and all the more evil. That she is trying to living up to the reputation created for her by the Prince is destroying her fast fading humanity. With each passing night, more heads roll and some of the primogen have begun to criticize her kill first and ask questions later philosophy. There is no question that without the Black Miko, the streets of Sofia would be filled to the brim with undesirable vampires. Her reputation alone keeps many from trying to enter the City, but at what cost? Miko's personal relationships are beginning to show the strain; above and beyond her work as the scourge, she has begun work almost exclusively for the Giovanni Clan on a contract basis. That she is trading her skills as a killer and some say her soul to the necromancers for the secrets of death is a fairly open secret. Many who previously felt they knew the young woman, are now uncomfortable in her presence and the number of her true friends are dwindling fast. There have been discussions that a replacement might be necessary in the foreseeable future, but the prince has remained silent on the issue so far.
