Description

In Vampire: The Masquerade (VTM) and related settings, a sword cane is a stylish, discreet melee weapon disguised as a walking stick, popular with Kindred for its blend of elegance and deadly utility, featuring a hidden, often rapier-style, blade (like a modified Hanwei practice rapier) released by a button, allowing subtle combat or defense for characters needing to blend in, but it penalizes attacks due to poor balance unless masterfully crafted. Key Characteristics:

Disguise: Looks like a normal walking stick or cane, often with ornate handles (wood, silver).
Mechanism: A spring-loaded button releases the handle and blade from the shaft.
Blade: Typically a sharp, tapered blade, often resembling a rapier or fencing foil, made from strong steel or carbon fiber.
Usage: Favored by vampires for self-defense in modern nights, fitting their aristocratic or enigmatic personas, especially when discretion is needed.
   Gameplay (VTM/Hunter):
Requires Crafting/Intelligence + Specialty to make well.
Can be spotted with Wits + Awareness (Difficulty depends on skill).
Usually carries an attack penalty (e.g., -1 die) due to poor balance unless crafted with a critical success.

Examples in Lore/Products:

A weapon for an anachronistic vampire.
Often associated with Sabbat or secretive sects needing concealed weapons.
